Widely Used Variety of Pasta

Who doesn’t love pasta? It feels like pasta have become part of our lives forever. The taste of a pasta depends on how it is being used it can be rich and filling or even light and healthy. Because of the elegant simplicity of the farmer’s dish on pasta, it has been used by many most famous restaurants globally.

Taking into consideration the Italy food tours, you would surely see a lot of different types of pasta. In the supermarket, you will be able to find hundreds type of pasta. Outside Italy only a few of pasta are widely known – spaghetti and lasagna being the most known. As observed, these pastas are used in a completely wrong type of dish. As an example would be the Bolognese sauce with the spaghetti should not be done since the spaghetti pasta is far too thin and also the meat would not be able to stick on it.

Thus, to get straight, here are the description of the five basic types of pasta and their uses.

First in the list would be the Farfalle pasta. It is called Farfalle since it is like in the shape of a bow tie. This pasta is great to be served with a butter and garlic sauce to accompany slices of meat such as grilled chicken, ground beef, or even sausage. Its shape and rich texture really goes well with tomato and cheese sauces and with vegetables.

The next pasta on the list would be Capellini. It is usually called as the “angel hair”. Same as spaghetti, Capellini is a long and thin kind of pasta however it is finer compared to the spaghetti but it cannot hold meat or vegetable sauces. Because of the delicate texture of Capellini, it is mainly used in broths and soups and also can be served with a simple lemon butter sauce. It is usually popular than the spaghetti in warm summer due to its light texture that does not weigh down the stomach.

Third on the list would be Penne. This kind of pasta is in the shape of elongated tubes cut in a slant with ridges. Considered as hearty and rich meal, Penne pasta can be served covered with emat or pesto sauces. It is commonly used in casseroles recipe and cold pasta salads because the ridges hold on to the herbs and sauces very well.

The Linguine is said to be one of the most important type of pasta. Linguine is a cousin of spaghetti pasta- it’s long and straight and flat in design. This type of pasta is used with tomato-based sauces especially with seafoods. Compared with the other pastas, it is often bought as dried in Italian shops.
